THE new season has begun for Midland Guildford Cricket Club with a number of positive results.
The male 1st grade side began with a comprehensive display as they defeated South Perth by seven wickets.
Restricting the opposition to 120 all out, a hattrick from Josh Nicholas punctuated the innings as he finished with four wickets for just 15 runs from nine overs.
Hudson Knight also finished with 4-49 off 10 overs, before Keaton Critchell finished unbeaten on 52 runs from 55 balls.
Strong top order contributions from James Kirwan (41 from 74), Hayden Kain (44 from 52) and Jordan Roads (46 from 62) were not enough for the male 2nd grade side as they suffered a nine-wicket defeat in their opening game.
The male 3rd grade side managed a five-run victory, while the male 4th grade side were defeated in their opening match.
The female A grade side won their Round 1 fixture in dramatic fashion with a four-wicket victory against Melville.
The female U17 got their season off to a winning start, and the female U14 will be looking to do the same in the first match of their inaugural season this weekend.
