SWAN Districts continued their impressive start to the 2025 WAFLW season and earned a measure of revenge on West Perth with Saturday’s five-point win at home.

The two teams met to commemorate Anzac Day in the first clash between them since last year’s first semi-final where West Perth ended the season of Swan Districts.

Swans had that revenge on their mind on Saturday afternoon and it was two goals to nil in the third quarter that set them up for the eventual 6.6 (42) to 5.7 (37) victory.

The win improves Swan Districts to a 3-1 record for the season after the opening five rounds to sit in third position as the competition takes a break this weekend for the state game against South Australia.

Taylah Edwards ended up kicking two goals for Swan Districts from three kicks with Kayley King, Ava Stewart, Sienna Gerardi and Emily McGuire kicking one apiece.

Carys D’Addario continued her exciting form in the midfield for Swans with another 25 possessions and seven tackles with King also finishing with 23 disposals, Jaime Henry 22, Isabella Edgley 18, Courtney Zappara 14, Sienna Gerardi 14, Luka Davis 14 and Emma Humphries 14.

The Swans started strongly with the game’s first goal thanks to Taylah Edwards.

King then kicked another for the home team just before quarter-time to see them go into the break leading by that six-point margin and then McGuire stretched it to 12 points with the first goal of the second term.

Gerardi added another soon after but then the Falcons answered back with the last three goals of the half and the scores were level by half-time.

Swan Districts kicked the only two goals of the third quarter thanks to Edwards and Stewart before then holding on despite a goalless final term to secure the five-point victory.

Then on Sunday morning, it was a Rogers Cup game to savour for Swan Districts as they beat the undefeated premiers of the past two years, West Perth, 5.6 (36) to 4.4 (28) at Bassendean oval.

Not only had the Falcons won the past two Rogers Cup premierships, but they went through the past two seasons undefeated and had won their first three matches of 2025 as well.

West Perth came into Sunday’s clash not having lost since a defeat to Peel Thunder all the way back on April 9, 2022, but Swan Districts changed that all around on Sunday morning as part of round 5 of the 2025 season.

West Perth were leading by six points at half-time to appear on track to keep their winning form going and were still leading by four points at three quarter-time.

Swans then delivered a big last quarter with three goals to one to score the eight-point win and hand West Perth a first Rogers Cup defeat in over three years.

Sienna Pollard ended up kicking two goals for Swan Districts with one each from Keira Fawcett, Summer Ajduk and Madison Fisher.
