SWAN Districts tested Claremont more than any other team this WAFLW season aside from Subiaco to be leading still at half-time before the Tigers ended up scoring the narrow nine-point victory.
Swans were away to take on the league-leading Tigers in round 13 of the WAFLW season with Claremont the last remaining undefeated team in 2025.
The Swans were also fresh off the bye and a 33-point win against West Perth to be sitting in third place on the way to then kicking the first two goals of the game, leading by eight points at quarter-time and by three at half-time.
Claremont ended up kicking three goals to one in the second half for the 6.2 (38) to 4.5 (29) win but there was a lot to be encouraged by in the performance from Swan Districts.
Kayley King kicked three goals for Swan Districts while Taylah Edwards kicked the other major.
Jaime Henry worked tirelessly to end up with 25 possessions and 17 tackles for the black-and-whites with Indiana West gathering 22 disposals, Summer Yarran 20, Luka Davis 14, Emma Humphries 14 and Lauren Quaife 13 to go with 46 hit outs and five tackles in the ruck.
Swan Districts made the perfect start against the undefeated Tigers with the game’s first goal inside two minutes thanks to King.
She added a second goal soon after with the Swans having the first two scores of the contest and even though Claremont did kick a goal before quarter-time, Swan Districts were still on top by eight points at the first break.
Swans also added a third goal of the game in the second quarter thanks to Edwards to maintain a three-point advantage by the half-time break.
Swan Districts managed one goal in the second half which was kicked by King early in the fourth quarter, but Claremont kicked the next two goals to secure the eventual nine-point victory on their home ground to remain undefeated.
