SWAN United have consolidated fourth spot after a hard-fought 3-2 win against Kelmscott Roos at Frye Park.

Kelmscott raced to a two-goal lead inside the first 20 minutes, with Brodie McRae and Ben Bolt on target.

But Swan found a lifeline in the shadows of half time when John Monterosso was fouled in the box, and the striker picked himself up to score from the spot.

Swan restored parity 15 minutes from time.

Good work from Jedd Romeril saw him drive into the box and get tripped, and Monterosso added his second from the spot.

Monterosso thought he had a hat-trick late on, but his effort was ruled offside in a tight call from the assistant referee.

It looked like the points would be shared, but in the final minute, Swan won it.

Dami Afolabi made space down the left and found Thomas White in the box, and he turned well to finish into the bottom corner.

Swan United coach Lee Taylor said despite a tough early half, the momentum swung in Swan’s favour as the game progressed.

“Pleased to come away with the three points,” he said.

“Not an ideal start, going down 2-0 in the first 20 minutes, but we managed to work our way back into the game just before half time and completely dominated the second half.

“Credit to the players for turning the game around and continuing to keep pushing for the winner after we had a goal ruled out.

Our away form has been really good this season (but) unfortunately, our home form has let us down.

“We will try to finish on a high next week in our last home game.”
