ORANGE Sky Australia has partnered with St Martin’s Church in Forrestfield to provide a free laundry service for people experiencing homelessness and other hardships.
Orange Sky is the world’s first free mobile laundry and shower service and was established in Brisbane in 2014.
It now operates more than 400 regular shifts in 54 service locations across Australia, supported by a team of over 4000 volunteers.
Orange Sky senior operations specialist Lisa Sprlyan said their mission was to positively connect communities by offering free laundry and genuine conversation to people experiencing homelessness, hardship, isolation or loneliness.
“No one deserves to go without essentials - clean clothes, a hot shower and a safe place to sleep,” Ms Sprlyan said.
“However, rising costs are increasingly forcing everyday Australians to choose between living essentials, bills and rent, and people who may have never thought they would be struggling financially are turning to us for help.
“We’re excited to be partnering with St Martins Uniting Church, who identified a real need for our service in the local community.
“Every Thursday from 1pm to 3pm, our team is onsite for anyone who’d like to drop by, whether it’s to use our free laundry, enjoy a sausage sizzle, or simply share a chat and a cuppa, everyone is welcome.”
If you or anyone you know could use this service, they are invited to come down to the church carpark at 57 Hale Road, Forrestfield.
