GIDGEGANNUP Bulldogs and Pickering Brook Hawks played out a goalless first quarter in their round 11 game.

Both teams had their opportunities however the Hawks’ attempts at goal drifted into the pocket and over the boundary line.

The Bulldogs missed to either side of the goal posts to register behinds.

The ball was rarely seen on the club room wing as the play continued up and down the outer side.

Highlights were few and far between.

The second quarter started with the Bulldogs having kicked the only three behinds that appeared on the scoreboard.

Gidgegannup were quick to take control with five early goals as Bulldog Tim Tanner kicking the first three of his seven goals for the game.

Teammate Declan Whife battled out the ruck contests against Hawk Jackson Shilling.

Bulldog Liam Marriott broke free of the tacklers to deliver the ball forward where Hayden Blackie marked and converted his kick at goal.

From there the goals dried up for the rest of the quarter.

The Bulldogs had opened up a 33-point lead heading into the third quarter.

The Hawks finally managed their first and only match goal through Brett Baker after some clever roving work by Jonathon Vecchio when he collected a well delivered ruck tap from Jackson Shilling and the drive the ball forward.

The Bulldogs backline was holding firm with Alan Rigg, Coby Campbell and Dylan Cahill repelling the Hawks’ advances.

After a four goal to one quarter Gidgegannup had extended their lead to 51 points to commence the last quarter.

Tristan Lilleyman was a major ball winner for the Hawks as he controlled most of the play on his wing.

Unfortunately, his efforts along with those of Jacob Ouwendyk and Brendyn McLeish weren’t enough to overcome the Bulldogs’ spread of contributors.

The Hawks could only manage another two behinds to the Bulldogs’ five goals in the last quarter.

Tim Tanner was the dominant scorer for the game while also spending time on the ball.

In the end, it was the Bulldogs who won the game with a final score of 14.10 (94) defeating Pickering Brook 1.8 (14)
