THE recent book launch of The Nature of the Jarrah Forest by Sawyers Valley resident Eric McCrum and his eldest daughter Janine at the Boya Community Centre was well attended.
The launch, ‘In-conversation with Eric McCrum OAM and Janine McCrum’, was organised by Shire of Mundaring library staff members Ginetta Evans and Elizabeth Lewis.
Eric and Janine were interviewed by Elizabeth on the process involved in producing the book, image selection and format, and they spoke on a range of topics that are covered in the book, featuring more than 550 colour slide and digital images, taken over many years incorporating both writers’ love for photography and nature.
The book is a lifetime dream of Eric’s, to spread the important message that all living things play an integral part in the survival and health of our environment.
The jarrah forest is in our own backyard; treasure it.
Eric thanked all library staff that assisted behind the scenes and provided a lovely morning tea. Special thanks to Sue and Clint Woodward of New Hope Farm for supplying the beautiful native foliage and flowers and to Kody Bacon – Statik Noise Productions, for the recording and photography at the event.
The book is available from the Perth Hills Mundaring Visitors Centre and other local stockists Big Bubble and Zanthorrea Nursery.
A full list of stockists is available at Vivid Publishing.
This book is dedicated to Eric’s late wife Margaret.
