REGISTRATIONS are now open for the 2024 WA technical large animal rescue responder (TLAR) training which will be presented by former Hawkesbury SES deputy commander David King who will bring his global knowledge and experience in animal emergency incident management.
The two-day training will be held on August 23-24 at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon, which will also include a one day vehicle incident management course.
The course format will combine theory and practical application of large animal manual and mechanical rescue techniques through case studies, as well as scenarios utilising large animal mannequins, rescue equipment and the WA Horse Council’s custom engineered horse float rollover simulator.
TLAR techniques are aligned with the Australian and New Zealand National Council for Fire and Emergency Services (AFAC) large animal rescue operations guidelines.
A brief course overview with learning outcomes and objectives is available on the WA Horse Council website.
