IN the second weekend of matches for Midland Guildford Cricket Club the female A grade side enjoyed a comfortable victory against South Perth after Veronica Keen took 4-13 from four overs.

This limited their opposition to a total of just 82 runs.

Bree Hyde was the top scorer with 32 not out from 21 in a four wicket victory with 6.1 overs remaining.

The female B grade got their first win of the season with an emphatic 55-run victory.

Lily-May Lyndon made 78 from 52 to guide the team to 4-163 from their 20 overs, before a complete team effort with the ball restricted their opposition to 5-108 in response.

The senior male sides experienced limited success in their matches against University with only the male 4th grade managing a victory.

Freddie Britt proved to be the match winner in that contest with an unbeaten score of 55 runs to help chase down the target of 182 with four wickets to spare.

Jack Giancono was the main standout amongst sides that were defeated.

His spell of five wickets for 22 runs from nine overs limited their opposition to 182, but this proved to be too much as the batting innings could not manage to chase down this total.

The male U17 and male U15 resume their two-day matches against Centurions this weekend while the female U17 won a thrilling contest by four runs against Rockingham Mandurah.

In their opening matches of the year, the male U14 and male U13 both won in comfortable fashion as they chased down modest totals set by Subiaco Floreat.

It was a complete team performance in the male U14 and Shakeel Anzir was the standout batter in the male U13 with 57 from 55 in their run chase.

This weekend will see the senior male sides look to bounce back from a slow start, while the senior female sides will aim to continue their strong opening to the season.

A number of junior sides will also be on display in various matches this weekend.
