Cassius trial to start in February

The Cassius Turvey murder trial will take place next year at the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

THE Cassius Turvey murder trial is set for February 10 through to April 7, 2025 in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

WA’s Chief Justice Peter Quinlan is to be the trial judge with pre-trial hearings to be held on January 30 and January 31.

Fifteen-year-old Noongar Yamatji teenager Cassius Turvey died after he was allegedly attacked with a metal pole as he walked in Middle Swan with friends on October 13, 2022.

As reported in Three more charged with murder of Cassius Turvey, Cassius spent five days in hospital before being sent home where he suffered a seizure and two strokes.

He was placed in an induced coma but died on October 23, 2022.

In the days and weeks after Cassius’ death, thousands gathered across Australia at more than 40 vigils and rallies to remember his life.

The four people charged with his murder are Jack Steven James Brearley, Mitchell Colin Forth, Brodie Lee Palmer and Aleesha Louise Gilmore.
