MIDLAND Guildford female A grade returned to action with a dominant nine-wicket victory against South Perth.
Teneale Peschel (4-28 from nine overs) and Lilly Mills (3-11 from six overs) were the standout bowlers as they dismissed their opponents for a total of just 94.
Naomi Dattani (35 not out from 46) and Chloe Piparo (31 from 27) placed the side in a strong position, with Ines McKeon contributing 16 not out as the side won with just one wicket lost.
The senior male and junior male sides last weekend faced off against Perth in both one-day and T20 fixtures.
The male 1st grade were set a target of 319 for victory after a bowling effort led by Brayden Brehaut (4-38 from seven overs).
Keaton Critchell produced 106 runs from 106 balls and combined with Austin Thomas (61 from 74) for a partnership of 124, but it would not be enough as the side fell 52 runs short.
In the male 2nd grade match, their opposition started with a 122-run opening partnership and it was difficult to overcome the slow start.
Jack Giancono took 3-51 from 10 overs in the bowling innings, but the batting innings saw only Mitchell Pope perform with 52 from 40 as the side was bowled out for 135 and lost by 107 runs.
It was a two-wicket defeat for the male 3rd grade in their match against the same opposition as they couldn’t defend a target of 197, while the male 4th grade secured a one run victory off the final ball of their match.
Thomas Baker (81 from 87) and Matt Hampson (70 not out from 108) helped produce a total of 8-227 which the side was only just able to defend.
The female B grade struggled to get any momentum in their match against Perth and lost by 138 runs.
The male U17 and male U15 played T20 matches against Perth with the male U17 enjoying a 22-run victory in their match, while the male U15 fell 59 runs short of the target set by their opponents.
The female U17s produced a strong performance with a number of players absent playing for Western Australia at the U16 national championships.
They chased down a target of 172 for victory with five wickets to spare.
