Male 4th grade in a good position as finals loom

The Midland Guildford male 4th grade now have a chance to secure first position on the table with a victory in the upcoming round.

THE Midland Guildford male 1st grade entered the second day of their match against Rockingham Mandurah with the game in the balance as they posted 145 all out before their opposition was 6-94 at stumps on day one.

But their efforts were in vain as they would lose the match although Matt Russo gave them the opportunity to be competitive with a spell of 4-99 from 30 overs.

In the male 2nd grade match against Rockingham Mandurah, the side won the toss and batted first.

They posted 199 all out, before restricting their opposition to 161 all out to secure a 38-run victory.

It was an all-round bowling effort that was key to the win, as William Shackles (3-31 from 15 overs) and Ben Skinner (3-38 from 15 overs) were the best performers.

A comprehensive display from the male 3rd grade in their match versus the same opposition, which featured two centuries in an innings of 8-305 declared.

Hunter Wills (102 runs from 124 balls) and Tom Southon (109 from 96) shared a massive partnership of 165 runs for the third wicket which was the main contributor to the 96-run victory.

Tom Hayward led all bowlers with four wickets for 34 runs from 18.3 overs in the dominant outing.

The male 4th grade chased down a target of 215 for victory after a first innings that saw Blair Barratt take 4-62 from 25 overs.

The run chase was led by Cam Jones who scored 76 from 182 in his first match of the season.

Contributions throughout the innings allowed the side to reach the target with five wickets remaining.

They will now have the opportunity to secure 1st position on the table with a victory in the upcoming round.

It was a narrow victory for the male U17 against Rockingham Mandurah as they passed the target score with just two wickets remaining.

Jayden Hutchison was the best performer in the match as he scored 80 not out from 87 to help secure the victory.

In the male U15 match against the same opponents, it was a more comfortable 30-run victory for the side.

Cooper Forsyth scored 83 from 126 to propel the side to 8-191, before an all-team bowling effort restricted their opponents to 9-161.

The male U14 secured a position in the semi final stage of their competition with a three-wicket win over Joondalup that was led by Tanveer Chauvan (55), Kyle Taylor (42) and James Colley (45).

The male U13 played the same opposition and won their final match of the season after eclipsing the target of 170 that was set by posting 211 in the second innings.

Playing against Subiaco Floreat, the female A grade side posted a mammoth first innings total of 9-270 from their 50 overs.

Naomi Dattani scored 82 from 98 to be the leading scorer in the innings.

In the second innings, they restricted the opposition to 7-192 from their second innings. Lilly Mills took 3-29 from 10 overs in the 78-run victory.

The female B grade had a bye for this round.

The female U17 fell short in their match against Rockingham Mandurah.

After losing the toss and bowling first, their opponents scored 4-168 from their 40 overs.

In the run chase, no batter could get a significant enough score to challenge the target of 169 as they were bowled out for 123 and lost by 45 runs.

A number of teams have the ability to guarantee their finals positions in the penultimate round of the season, while others aim to carry some momentum into their remaining fixtures.
