WEST Coast Fever had two wins and one loss while playing in Victoria before returning home to prepare for the official Suncorp Super Netball pre-season tournament held in Adelaide.
In their final game Ruth Aryang of Midland continued her successful weekend, gaining defensive rebounds in partnership with Fran Williams.

Despite the hard work of every player Fever lost 59-50 to the Vixens in Ballarat.

The day before on March 1, Fever had a six-goal win over Giants Netball.

While Kadie-Ann Dehaney, Williams and Aryang continued their magic in defence in the fourth quarter the Giants fought back in the fourth quarter.

But it wasn’t enough to get around the Fever players who won 68-62.

Fever finished with a four-goal win against the Melbourne Mavericks in their first pre-season hit out against a Suncorp Super Netball team.

Playing at Waverley Netball Centre, the Mavericks took a 16-12 lead in front of their home crowd into the second quarter.
Aryang’s defence in the third quarter was key, delivering intercepts to push the ball toward Fever goals and the teams were 39-39 going into the final quarter.

The final quarter was an intense battle between both sides, both gunning for the lead.

Williams was destructive to the Maverick’s plans, her versatility in both goal defence and wing defence keeping her a step above the opposition.

The pressure from the defensive end allowed Olivia Wilkinson and Mwai Kumwenda to find those quick and important goals, and resulted in a 55-51 win for Fever to start their pre-season trip to Victoria.
