
SWAN Districts WAFL side finished strongly with five goals in the last quarter against Claremont but it wasn’t enough to stop the Tigers scoring a 38-point win.
Swan Districts did not manage to kick a goal in the first half against the second placed Claremont but did manage five goals to one in the fourth quarter.
Claremont won 13.6 (84) to 6.10 (46) with Swan Districts now holding a 5-11 record for the season with games against West Coast and Peel Thunder to finish.
Leigh Kohlmann and Jiah Reidy kicked two goals apiece for Swan Districts against the Tigers.
Captain Jesse Turner racked up another 33 possessions for the Swans with Josh Cipro also having 27 disposals, Jye Chalcraft 27, Max Chipper 18, Aidan Clarke 18, Ayden Cartwright 15, Bryce Watson 15 and Nathan Blakely 15 to go with 18 hit outs and five tackles in the ruck.
Claremont dominate the first quarter with five goals and holding Swan Districts scoreless on the way to leading by 34 points at quarter-time.
Swans then managed two behinds in the second quarter but Claremont added another two goals to be leading by 46 points at half-time.
Claremont also kicked the first two goals of the third quarter to open up a 54-point lead before Swan Districts got on the board courtesy of Leigh Kohlmann at the 20-minute mark.
The Tigers still managed to open up a 66-point lead by three quarter-time before the Swans started the fourth quarter with a goal to Jiah Reidy.
The Swans added another four goals in the final term thanks to Otis Harvey, Jye Chalcraft, Kohlmann and another to Reidy to cut the final margin for Claremont to 38 points.
Earlier that day the colts contest got the day’s action underway with Claremont ending up holding out the fast finishing Swan Districts for the 6.13 (49) to 6.4 (40) victory.
The loss sees Swan Districts slip outside of the top four in the colts now sitting with an 8-7 record and with just one game to go over the last two weeks with the bye to come this weekend before playing Peel Thunder in Mandurah in the last round.
