
THE 2025 Swan Valley wine show was held at Sandalford Wines from August 12-15 marking its 37th show, one of the longest continually operating wine shows in Australia.
From the first commercial vintage in 1834 through to the current day, winemakers throughout the Swan Valley region continue building on the tradition of viticulture and fine wine making.
A record number of 272 wines were entered into this year’s show and 35 received a gold medal.
The annual wine show is an opportunity for winemakers to benchmark their wines against other wines from throughout the region to ensure and encourage the striving for excellence in winemaking practices.
Faber Vineyard was awarded the trophy for the best Swan Valley table wine of show with their CBP 2023, this wine also won the trophy for best chenin blanc.
Vino Volta won the City of Swan trophy, given to the exhibitor whose five or more entries gained the highest average score.
Mandoon Estate won the most successful producer trophy for the highest accumulated points overall.
The Liquor Barons trophy for the best regional wine of show is judged separately and is only open to gold medal winning Swan Valley wines and awarded to the wine that in the judge’s opinion shows true Swan Valley regional character.
Pinelli Estate won this trophy for their verdelho reserve 2025.
Mandoon Estate took home a total of four trophies, in addition to most successful producer they won best sparkling wine (reserve sparkling 2016), best non GPZ wine (reserve chardonnay 2024) and best shiraz (reserve shiraz 2024).
Windy Creek Estate were awarded three trophies, best varietal dry white or dry white blend (classic dry white 2025), best dry white wine of show (chenin blanc 2025) and best verdelho (verdelho 2018).
Sittella Wines won best grenache (Golden Mile grenache 2022) and best fortified wine of show (liqueur verdelho NV).
Nikola Estate took home the best red wine blend trophy (grenache, shiraz mourvedre 2024).
Sandalford Wines won best rosé (Winemakers rosé 2025).
The Vino Volta Different Skins 2024 wine won the prestigious Alan Dinneen memorial trophy.
This wine was selected by chair of judges Severine Logan from all of the Swan Valley GI wines entered into the show.
