SWAN Valley-based not-for-profit GFS Perth chief executive officer Alison Gilchrist will join top chefs Colin Fassnidge and Miguel Maestre to cook up a feast and raise funds to provide 10,000 meals for people in need.
The cook off is part of the national OzHarvest CEO CookOff 2025, joining top chefs and business leaders from across the country to raise funds and awareness for Australians doing it tough.
The Cook Off, taking place this October at Perth City Farm, is a unique event where chief executive officers swap their boardrooms for the kitchen, rolling up their sleeves to cook alongside celebrated chefs and directly serve meals to people in need.
Mrs Gilchrist has set herself the goal of raising $5,000 in just six weeks – enough to provide an extraordinary 10,000 meals through OzHarvest.
“At GFS Perth, we believe friendship is made real when we show up for one another,” she said.
“This is friendship in action, a chance to put food on the table for thousands of people, while also standing alongside other leaders to say hunger has no place in our community.”
OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, has delivered more than 250 million meals to vulnerable Australians since it began. Every $1 donated provides two meals to people facing food insecurity.
Mrs Gilchrist is calling on the local community to rally behind the cause.
“I may be cooking up a storm at City Farm in October, but this challenge is about all of us here in Perth too. Every dollar counts, and every donation – big or small – is a gift of friendship and hope,” she said.
GFS Perth is a 140-year-old community organisation based in the Swan Valley, dedicated to enabling friendship and caring for creation.
Through Friendship Central, its soon to be built new community hub in West Swan, GFS Perth is building a movement of connection, belonging, and regenerative living.
