CHIDLOW were quick out of the blocks after some slick ball movement from the first centre ball up in their game against Mt Helena where the Lions had no answers.

The Cougars went on to score 26.14 (170) to 4.4 (28) to sit behind Hills Football Association ladder leaders Swan View on percentage.

A negated ruck duel was better read and swooped on by Max Daniels who kicked the ball forward where Adam McKinlay gathered the loose ball putting it through for a goal with his non-preferred boot.

This started a sequence of nine goals to nil for the first quarter.

Luke Elliott dragged in some very strong marks to join in the goal scoring.

Mt Helena were having difficulty getting past their half forward line.

Alex Radonic and Steven Schorer rebounded several Lions forward entries.

Bo Read along with Riley Maturo battled hard but were overwhelmed by the Cougars’ continued delivery to their forwards.

Fifty-seven points separated the two teams at the first break.

The Lions needed to find some answers and quickly.

Ryan Schwagereit, Charlie Read and Cooper Parker started to work their way into the game slowing down the Cougars scoring while being able to score two goals of their own.

Jack Langridge was almost unbeatable on a wing, collecting several possessions delivering the ball deep into his forward line.

Matt Mallaby and Jake Forman both goaled for the Cougars.

At the other end Ryan Waters and Ryan Reidy-Crofts were the Lions sole contributors.

Chidlow held a strong advantage in the ruck by being able to rotate Joshua Johnson, Joshua Edwards and Aiden Letto.

This allowed Adam McKinlay and Callum Holmes to do the ruck work around their forward line.

The Lions had no answers to Chidlow’s continued dominance as they posted another goalless quarter while the Cougars kicked eight.

With better than a 100-point lead it was only a matter of how much the Cougars were going to win by.

Chidlow coach Shane Fitzgerald used the opportunity to rotate more than half the team through the centre offering them that midfield experience.

Mt Helena needed to get something from the last quarter to offer themselves and coach something to take into next week’s game.

Players from both teams were getting tired, while the sting was also going out of the game which began to show on the scoreboard as the Cougars managed four more goals while the Lions added another two.
