SWAN View took the points over Mundaring at the Mother’s Day clash.
Caleb Butler held the upper hand over his opponent Oli Aitken in the ruck duels and when the ball hit the ground, it became a wrestle.
The Mundaring Roos held sway in a low scoring first quarter but the continuous contests had the ball moving slowly.
Although the Swans had more forward 50 entries it was the Roos that held a seven-point lead at the first siren.
The second quarter started as another arm wrestle and the ball spent a lot of time between the 50 metre arcs.
Joseph Butler and Jake Higgins held firm, deep in defence while at the other end Anthony Bailey managed to keep leading goal scorer Jeff Ladd down to one goal.
Dylan O’Loghlen also worked hard attempting to cut off the Swan’s forward entries.
As the quarter wore on the Swan’s, on-ballers started to take better advantage of Caleb Butler’s ruck work.
Their increased influence was starting to draw teammates into the play, swinging the game in Swan View’s favour.
The second half started with the Swan’s holding a six-point lead.
Both teams continued to maintain the pressure making scoring difficult, but Mundaring’s accuracy was keeping them in the game.
Hudson Knight continued as the Roo’s leading goal scorer, his accuracy being a leading factor.
Josh Hollingum and Taraia Carpenter worked their way into the game,
either delivering the ball to their leading forwards Boe Hyatt, Brady Noack and
Jeff Ladd or running the ball in
themselves to convert their kicks at goal.
The Roos were still in with a chance as Swan View held a 20-point lead to start the last.
Although the Swan’s had other ideas as they started to open the game right up, players were lining up to have a kick at goals.
Seven goals to nil for the last pushed the Swan’s away to a 72-point win.
