MUNDARING faced ladder-leaders Swan View on their home ground during Think Mental Health round with the Roos in front until the Swans 7.16 (58) to 6.4 (40) gained the upper hand in the final quarter.

Both Hills Football Association teams were coming off solid wins in the previous round.

The Roos had to find a way of slowing down the Swans potent goal scoring capacity.

Kyle Tenardi was offered the challenge of manning up against the competition’s leading goal scorer Jeff Ladd.

Tenardi applied himself to the task, keeping his opponent to one goal for the game from several attempts.

The Swans couldn’t buy a goal in the first quarter heading into the first break with six straight behinds on the board.

The left the Roos with a slender two point lead.

The game was a continual arm wrestle as both teams had difficulty penetrating their forward lines.

Oli Aitken had an even tussle with Caleb Butler in the ruck contests.

No decisive clearances led to congestion and a series of ball ups.

Sam Butler picked up several possessions in his on-ball role.

Tyler Levitt and Dylan O’loghlen were offering sound support to Kyle Tenerdi as they rebounded the ball out of their backline, Robert Di Salvio kicked accurately to Jamie Humble resulting in one of his two goals for the game.

The Swans inaccuracy continued as they entered the half time break with one goal 11 behinds to their credit, which allowed Mundaring to hold a three-point lead.

The low scoring trend continued as neither team was prepared to give up easy possessions. Taraia Carpenter and Dane Rosen started to work their way into the game.

Joseph Butler appeared to be playing loose in his backline picking up multiple possessions clearing the ball back over the centreline.

The last quarter started with the Roos still holding a seven-point lead.

It appeared as though the trend was going to continue right up until the final siren, then halfway through the quarter Swan View started to gain the upper hand finding space with some accurate ball movement.

Lachlan Emmett along with Jaiden Dyer were both influential in the Swan’s late final quarter surge.

While Taraia Carpenter rounded out his solid game with a third goal.

Joseph Butler was awarded the Think Mental Health match ball for his best on ground performance.
