Strong weekend for Midland Guildford Cricket Club teams

Midland Guildford Cricket Club was victorious across multiple sides this round with close games being played by male 3rd grade and 4th grade games.

THERE were a number of games completed for Midland Guildford Cricket Club last weekend with some positive results for a number of sides.

The male 1st grade fell short against Perth after only posting 180 all out from 59.2 overs. Max Bittner top scored with an unbeaten 57 runs from 89 balls, before Keaton Critchell took 5-53 from 23.2 overs as their opponents made 266 in the run chase.

It was a four-wicket victory for the male 2nd grade against the same opposition with Ben Skinner, with 3-36 from 18 overs, and Jack Giancono, with 3-51 from 21 overs, helping to restrict Perth to 150 all out.

The side chased down the target with four wickets to spare with the final session of play still remaining.

A thrilling game from the male 3rd grade saw them chase down a target of 288 for victory after dismissing Perth for 287 all out on day one.

Hunter Wills, with 94 from 156, and Mohit Malviya, with 62 from 153, were key contributors to the chase as they managed to secure victory by one wicket with just one ball remaining.

The male 4th grade also had a close contest against the same opposition as they won their match in the final session by chasing down the target of 193.

Matthew Hampson took 5-32 from 18.4 overs to help restrict Perth to 192 all out before a collective batting effort led by Cooper Neill, with 38 not out from 62, got the side past the total with two wickets remaining.

In the female A grade T20 match, they won comfortably against Rockingham Mandurah.

The side restricted their opponents to 8-90 with Ruby York being the leading wicket-taker with 4-11 from four overs.

They chased down the target without losing a wicket as openers Chloe Piparo, with 50 not out from 42, and York, with 40 not out from 35, shared an unbeaten partnership of 91 runs.

The female U17 played a double-header of T20 matches with games against Wanneroo and Perth.

They were beaten in a super over by Wanneroo, before winning by six wickets against Perth.

It was a round of good results for several teams and there are some exciting fixtures coming up with T20 finals matches for all of the female sides and the Premier T20 side.
